Data connection issues in Downtown Houston, TX?
It seems that since around early December or so myself and all my coworkers have been experiencing a lack of 3g, 4g, or even Edge connectivity downtown. My coworkers blame some construction being done in our building, but the outage started 2 weeks PRIOR to the construction starting. We are in the Houston Chronicle Building area by Market Square, if that helps.
I have to go up to a higher floor and walk around to each corner before I can even get a small amount of E data if I'm lucky. I ALWAYS have full bars in my building as well, so it isn't a matter of getting a weak signal. As far as I'm aware, nothing has been done to our building (ie: new glass panes or other things that could affect signal) and no other buildings have suddenly sprung up next to ours to block any towers. I also noticed that when coming into work the data signal will disappear on my way to my building regardless of which direction I'm entering downtown from. On my way home from work it also takes me about 5 minutes of driving before my data reconnects.
I also have issues with calling. I'll hit dial and the phone beeps as to confirm that a call is being placed, but I never hear a ring out. I have to end the call and immediately try again. THEN I will get the beep followed by a ring out, and the call will be successful. The same is true of answering calls. On the first answer all I hear is silence. I have to hang up and either call them back or wait for them to call again.
I've also upgraded my phone from a T-Mobile Galaxy S2 to a Play Store Nexus 4- and the issue persists.
Again, just to recap:
-Multiple people confirming this issue
-Observing the issue in multiple areas downtown
-Has occurred for around two months
-New phone hasn't fixed issue
-No changes to building or new builds built in area
Have any other Houston users here noticed this? Or am I losing my mind? (or rather, are WE losing OUR minds since there's a bunch of us...)
