Porting number on a Prepaid Plan

I'm considering the $30 plan. Unlimited Web and Text with 100 talk minutes.

The T salesperson said I could port my number to the prepaid plan, but if I wanted to upgrade from that $30 plan to a plan with more talk minutes, I'd lose my number.

Can anyone confirm that ?

Prepaid and phone numbers. Losem quick. That does not make sense. Was it a T-Mobile employee? If you can live with not mms google voice is a great way to protect your number but T-Mobile does not support conditional call forward. I would talk to a t mobile person to be sure. I think they are wrong

No, this is not true. You won't lose your number ever unless you give it up. I went from the $30 plan to the $70 plan with no problem.

I have several Google Voice numbers but prefer using youmail (youmail.com). Unfortunately after checking, t-mobile's prepaid doesn't support conditional call forwarding, so the Prepaid plans are out for me.

Thanks
