Hey all - long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm shopping a new (new to me) carrier in order to get coverage where my parents live when I visit. They are in a doughnut-hole and there is absolutely zero coverage with VZW/Sprint (Sprint is my current carrier).

The ydo, however, live within sight of an ATT tower. And that's what they use. And, and the ATT coverage map reflects the tower in their area.

BUT - the TMobile coverage map shows no coverage in the same area. I thought that TMobile would roam off ATT and vice versa (like VZW and Sprint roam off each other).

Just wondering, do you think maybe the Tmobile coverage map isn't up to date (the tower has been there for at least 2 years, if not longer) - or am I making too many assumptions about how roaming works with GSM?

Thoughts anyone?

T mobile and ATT use different frequencies for 3g I believe. T-mobile uses 1700mhz. There are areas where you can roam edge wise and voice also. ATT and t mobile might have a deal later this year to use each others towers in more areas.
