My wife and I are thinking about switching from Verizon but don't need the unlimited option. Does T-Mobile offer any other plans like prepaid and what is the cost? We only need about 4gb of data. Sprint said we could get that for about $65/month taxes and fees included.

Not anymore. They only have one plan.. The dumb "T-Mobile One" plan. You can try calling to see if they can offer something less.

I tried. Looks like Sprint it is. Considering most people only use a few gigs of data a month I wonder how long the unlimited plan will last.

T-Mobile still offer the simple choice 6GB/$65mo and 10GB/$80mo

For 2 lines 6GB/$100mo
10GB/$120mo
The data goes for each line no overages with rollover data

There are prepaid options too, and MVNOs.

$50 on TMO prepaid gets you unlimited talk+domestic text+5GB. If you're ok with fewer minutes, $30 gets you 100 minutes+unlimited domestic and international text+5GB, $0.10 extra/minute.

$50 (40 for the second line, on a "group save" discount) also gets you 5GB on Cricket Wireless, an AT&T option. But they cap speeds at 8mbps LTE/4mbps 3G, and I believe hotspot costs extra.

Whichever carrier you go with, verify they have good coverage where you live, work, etc.

I'm looking at switching from Verizon too. Military discount is still 15% for the simple plans. With two new pixel xl phones we'll receive $325 a piece credited over 24 months. They're also giving $200 credits for porting in a number but keeping your phone. There's an option to turn a phone in for $200 too I believe.

Anyways, 3 lines ported w/byod and $1250 in credits means 2GB Simple Choice plan will be about $19.50 a month for the first 20 months. The next 4 will be $49.50. Then those promotions run out and I'll be at $76.50.

I'm in Williamsburg VA. Here's what the 4G LTE looks like...

1,2,5,6 are T-Mobile. 3,4,7,8 are Verizon.
