T-Mobile wifi tethering

Please forgive me ahead of time I have searched but am not sure what it is Im looking for. Can someone please direct me to a thread that can help me with my wifi tethering. I just switched from Verizon to Tmobile, I am rooted but with any custom rom wifi tethering is super slow. I tried searching and the only thing I can come up with is to change my APN settings??? I have tried this from a couple of different forums to no avail. Has anyone found a way for wifi tethering speed to not be limited? Thanks guys.

Unfortunately with TMO slowing tethering speeds and/or giving normal data higher priority its hard to tell if its your phone or a tower issue.
The only way to know this is to flash your phone to stock and test your speeds. If they are good then it could be a ROM issue. just my guess.
