I ordered a power adapter to recharge my Note 3 while traveling to/from wife's horse shows. Just arrived via USB from (some furrin' place or ta other). But the phone end does not have the complete USB 3 plug. Looks like it only has the wide half.
Does anyone know if splitting the plug like that works? Don't want to electrocute my toy!

Batt got down to 16% today. Car charger brought it back to 19% on a 30 minute drive. Dog slow.

It isn't so much the use of a USB 2.0 cable as the output of the charger. The Note 3, according to the Samsung specs, requires a charger with at least a 1.3 amp output. In practical terms that means a 2.0 amp output as the chargers generally come in 700 mAmp output, 1 amp output and 2 amp output. From my personal experience a 30 minute charge using my 2.0 amp output car charger would have brought the phone batter up to at least 40 percent.

Well it's 30 - 40 minutes from home to work. Tomorrow I'll record batt state and start stop time and post it.

Try another - in the morning the battery level went from 39% to 45% in 35 minutes. In the afternoon from 14% (I saw a low battery warning) to 20% in 37 minutes. Then on AC at home, from 20% to 100% in 2 hours and 14 minutes. Bow the charger is labeled "Samsung, model ACADU10CBE, made in China, OUTPUT 5V/700 ma.

So basically the Samsung wall charger which should be a 2 amp output charges 3 times faster than your car charger. I would guess the car charger has a 700 mA output for your results.
