Default Google Play - Insufficient Storage ERROR - I Have PLENTY of SPACE

    Hi - I am running a rooted, Android 4.3 on a Samsung Note 3.

I have 4 GB free space on the phones internal storage & 3 GB free on my SD Card. I try and install Words With Friends (20MB) and it downloads, tries to install and then says ERROR - INSUFFICENT STORAGE AVAILABLE.

I have tried to reboot, shut down and restart, delete a 1GB Game and still I get the error no matter what I do.

    PLEASE HELP.

What do I need to do

Go into your app manager, and clear the software cache of everything, most important of all: your Playstore app cache. There could be some kind of system limit on cache and system files to allow for some leeway for the rest....

Reboot the phone. The one time I had this happen that fixed it.

You could also clear the cache data for the Play store app.

You say rooted. Is that stock rooted, or a custom rom.

You don't need a cache cleaner. Go to Settings, Storage. Tap on Cache. Tap on Clear.

Edit: This may not work on Android 4.3 and lower.

Use root Explorer go to data then app-store and delete the folders for the appropriate app.

    Hi there,
Go to Settings, Apps, All and uninstall Google Play Store.
This will replace by the old version and then you can download without " Insufficient Storage ERROR"
    It works for me

My trick was to uninstall Google Play services...then I got a notice saying that my apps would not work without it and I hit install and it went fine...now my Gmail works where before it would just say that google play services needed to be updated for Gmail to work

I inadvertently found the weirdest fix for this issue. After I'd burned through nearly all my allotted data (cheap 1 gig prepaid plan) trying to download the system update and kept getting that "insufficient storage space" error message, I upped my data plan to 3 gigs so I wouldn't be charged for going over. Boom--the system update software finally worked properly and updated my system even though I'd given up trying to free up more internal space. If you're on a cheap 1-Gig plan, you may want to try upping your data allottment temporarily to do the system update. If your plan is prepaid, you can always crank down the data allotment for the next month's billing cycle.

SD Maid app is the final answer! I gained 1.2GB back!!!

I uninstalled most of my apps after previously formatting my fone( Samsung Galaxy Note 1) about twice, but my memory still kept shrinking, it still kept saying “Insufficent storage memory”. I was almost going to type the *#9900# code to clean it, but I feared if it had side effects. I was on the brink of buying another phone when I settled down to intensively research the problem, I researched it for about 3 days and found a solution to the problem.

Step 1- Download and Install “kingroot” app directly from the website, because it is not in google play. Then open it and Root your phone. You won’t lose any information, it will not format it or do anything at all to your phone, it will just enable your phone to be able to install some sensitive apps
Step 2-Download and install “Root checker” app from google play to confirm that your phone is rooted
Step 3-Open Kingroot app and click “Kingmaster” to install Kingmaster app , this will purify the phone
Step 4- Then finally, download and install “SD Maid” app, then open it and click “System cleaner” to clean your phone with it. It will delete the logcats, gallery thumbnails and some other hidden junk in your phone. When I cleaned my phone with it, I gained 1.2GB back!!!

So that’s all, you can try Step 4 straight up, but it might not work, your phone might need to be rooted. You can also use the *#9900# code but I don’t know its side effect, and don’t know if it would be as effective as SD Maid. Goodluck!!!

Try Space Cleaner, its basically a junk and cash cleaner, with the additional functionality to also manage apps, and ultimately increase space that is hogging your android device. It's super easy to use. I found it on Google play store, just type Space Cleaner Uniblue.

After following this advice my google play app has not come back?
Now I can't get access to any new apps via the play store!
    How do I fix this?
Google also will not let me access the play store via my browser!
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    --------------------------------------------------
    Edit;
In the end I fixed this by installing the old Market via System/app vending.apk I think.
Then reboot and new google play store is back and I update to latest version.
Now working and able to download apps once more!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 running android 4.3. I have over 7Gb free on the device and over 15Gb free on my SD card. I had an app disappear on me (Yahoo Sports) when i updated all my other apps, as i do regularly. Everything else updated just fine. But when i try to download Yahoo Sports again, i get the "insufficient storage" error. I have tried to clear my cache, restart the phone, move apps to my SD card, etc. Nothing has worked. Why do i keep getting this error message?

    Can someone please help me?
