Google Account Manager killing my Note 3 Battery

I have had my Note 3 for some time. I love the phone but in the last few weeks it is driving me crazy. My battery last less than 5 hours. The biggest problem is "Google Account Manager" it is constantly connecting and downloading. It is not just killing my battery but also my data, I have limited data and this doesnt stop.

Example. I leave to work at 7 am. by 1 pm i have less than 40% battery left. When I check "My Data Manager" app it shows that Google Account Manager has been working non stop and has downloaded over 100 MB. Now downloading 100 Mb takes time, but it should not take 8 hours and 50% battery. I have had days where I get home at 5 pm with over 70% battery and check My Data Manager and Google Account Manager is not there. IT is obvious that the manager has something to do with it.

The same thing happens when i go out on the weekend. Leave the house around 8 pm with 80% get home at 1:30 am with 5% charge left, without use all night (or minimal use). Same story, if I have no charge Goggle Account Manager has been downloading all night. Or I get home and have >40% and Google Account manager is no where to be seen.

Here are some picks showing the consumption, This is this morning

This is the last month

I have turned off most syncs in Settings>General>Accounts>Google>
only one that are still active are Calendar, contact and gmail. Everything else is off

So a quick update. Once I turned off everything in the Google sync setting the manger just stopped consuming data. While this solves my problemm of the data and battery hog, now my phone wont back up my info. Any ideas? Even an app that times the sync would be amazing.

Which data in particular do you want to back up? Your contacts (if you enter them as Account contacts, nor Phone or SIM) are automatically backed up as you enter them. Your email is backed up on the email server. You can back up your apps and their data and your messages with local apps.

ideally I would like to backup as much as possible. But I would like the backup to happen when my phone is at home charging and on WiFi.

Another update after this weekend. If I turn off "Sync" in the notification area Google Account Manager will never start. At the same time I don't get emails or Facebook notifications, which is fine when going out during the weekend, but not during my 9 to 5 job. I also did a few test by going into Settings>General> Accounts and making sure that all accounts had "Sync Off". This ment gong into each account (Google, Sync apps with Facebook, Samsung Account, Dropbox blah blah blah) and turning everything off. During the weekend I still used about 10 Mb of Google Account Manager. I an starting to hate android for this. Samsung forces the install of useless apps with complete access to all your info (Tripadvisor, samsung notebook, samsung store) and now these update which are basically costing me more money than the phone is worth due to data overages.

You can turn off all the Samsung garbage, but if you want email synced quickly you're going to use a lot of data. (Just connecting to the email server and asking if there's any email for you uses more than a few bytes). Whether it's Google, Blackberry, Windows or iOS, how much data is used is going to depend on how often you sync and which email server you're using. Setting your email to sync every hour instead of every 5 minutes will save you a lot of data. Setting it to never sync will save even more. (It'll sync whenever you run the email app.)

Hello and thanks for the idea.

I just checked now. All of my emails (4) were set to sync every 30 minutes during peak hours (8am to 5pm) and once every hour during non peak hours (I also had download attachments off and the max size was 50 kb).

The strange thing is, is that the Google Account Manager only seems to start the second I get off WiFi. Yesterday I was messing around and I noticed that the "process" actually only starts when I leave WiFi. Then my phone starts to heat up, sometimes getting to the point where it is uncomfortable to have it in my pocket. If I reconnect to the WiFi the process stops.

I am trying to find something on the Google end (in my google account) hoping that there is something. But still nothing yet.

After being frustrated I decided to do one last thing, remove my Google account and add it again. I then went one by one seeing the sync time and data required by all the Google sync-able information.

Most thing App Data, Calendar, Books, Google+, Google+ Photos, People Details, Drive were able to sync between 5 to 15 seconds.

Contacts required a little longer (about 30 seconds) but this was expected.

Finally the Picasa Web Album asked me for permission, when I gave it access it seemed to have crashed or something. There was an error in the sync process so I unchecked it. I hope this works.

I have given up on Android phones. I love these thing but I cant take all the crap that happens to them. There is no reason that Google Account Manager should be downloading or uploading information every second of the day. My phone is officially always hot.

Back to iPhone it is

Damn! I am having the same problem!
Config:
Huawei Mate 7
Android 4.4.2
over 4000 mAh and my battery drains in less than a day! Any solutions yet?
