    Default Hazards of Portable Hotspot

    Hello,

I want to use the portable hotspot on my AT&T SGS4 more frequently, but I have heard bad things about phones exploding, catching on fire, and failing to work after regular use of the hotspot function. Does anybody else on the forums have any knowledge of this, and are these defects prominent on the SGS4?

Unfortunately, No. When I bought the SGS4, I asked a Best Buy employee about the hotspot functionality. He replied by stating that he has had many friends where their phone exploded or stopped working due to regular use of the hotspot feature.

OK yes and no let me explain when you use the wifi hot spot you use a good bit of battery and if you know a little physics energy cannot be created note destroyed just transformed so it will put off a lot of heat inside the of the lithium ion battery there's a layer to separate the positive and negative ions of the battery but a lot of heat can diminish the layer and the cells become unstable and can explode with great force

The good news is it takes a lot of heat to deteriate the layer so as long as your not using it for 3 hours at a time you should be good just keep an eye on that battery Guage if it starts dropping rapidly and the phone is really hot turn it off and let it cool down
