Gingerbread update is coming!!

Very true. I told my cousin to update his Atrix to GB the day it came out. He had no idea what I was talking about. All I said was, update and enjoy 3rd party apps. He said. "Huh?"

This is what pisses me off. They had alot of commercials for this phone like they were going to actually take care of the customers who buy it and it's just taking really long for them to give us an update that shoulda happened along time ago. I was always a loyal customer, but this just proves that they don't give a crap.

The sad thing is, you know there are a lot of AT&T people who read this thread...some of them are engineers, one assumes.

It would be a good way to buy some goodwill with a reasonable explanation of what's going on, but by not responding they let imaginations run wild. Plus it feeds the suspicion that they just don't give a crap.

Makes me sad... I wish I had a choice of provider but AT&T is the only service that has decent coverage in my area... Maybe if they buy Tmobile they will assimilate better customer service?

I'm going to go out on a limb here (as a software engineer and owner of a small business) and suggest to you and the others to think again about the complaints of not getting gingerbread. It's not an easy task to do what they are doing. Once changes are made, they have to be tested, then fixed, retested ect....

Telling at what point in the process they are at with changes will mean absolutely NOTHING to you. It's a complicated process. If they give you a deadline, then tell you they will miss it, or don't tell you at all....and still miss it, you will still be pissed. If they tell you they are 50% done, and a month later they tell you they are still only 50% done, you will assume they did nothing. The reality of it is they may still think they are 50% done when they aren't. Guessing how long it will take to deliver is tough.

I had a customer call me yesterday and I told him a week for a fix. He called me today to see if it was ready and again I said a week. I bet a million bucks he calls tomorrow asking if it's done yet. people don't listen, so why bother giving them info?

I have jail broken enough phones, run enough alpha and beta versions of software to know quicker isn't always better. If it's really an issue, then root the phone with a gingerbread rom.

Sometimes no news is good news. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the phone. Gingerbread will come, just not when you want it to.

Now, feel free to bash me all you want.

AT&T engineers don't handle this update. It's between the vendor (Samsung) and AT&T marketing executive.

No bashing from me. You have some valid points. This is why the situation makes me angry, Roger's Infuse was released with Gingerbread. Our Infuse should have been released with it. The fact that they made a statement on Twitter about us getting Gingerbread by the end of August, then coming back with the excuse of it being a mix up is ridiculous. To add insult to injury, they have to tweet that the person that posted the mistake is being pelted with Gingerbread. Instead of making little jokes about it, they should own up to the mistake, and pelt our damn phones with Gingerbread.

AT&T is hardly your little operation. If you offer your customers no explanation I'ld be your former customer. This is my first android and likely my last with AT&T

What I do is way more customized than AT&T. I do offer explanations but people still don't get it.

It will get here and I can wait. It's not the end of the world. If you hate AT&T that much then go to sucky Verizon. Been there. They suck too.

Agreed... if you're not tech savvy and can't handle instructions from XDA, Don't even bother going custom roms. Just choose a nice launcher program and buy a nice theme. Froyo is still a stable OS. There are some that just don't understand this type of software and just want point and click answers. If you want the best carrier... move to South Korea haha. Their tech infrastructure is ridiculous.

And that is the only reason I stay with AT&T: because my partner is on Sprint. With 2 phone companies in one household, we get plenty of coverage everywhere we go. In some places, AT&T has no signal whatsoever, but Spring is strong. The reverse also happens.

Yes the Infuse was released in Canada on Roger's network running Gingerbread. That is where the Gingerbread for the Infused Rom came from. If they could get Gingerbread straight out the gate, why not AT&T?

Im running Serendipity. Based off the Captivates Gingerbread ROM. Seems to me to be smoother then the Infused ROM. Ive only had it installed for a day, and Im loving it. Has notible features in it to make it look more eligant. Also 5 different lock screens to choose from.

@Terrigno, any noticeable setbacks from Serendipity7 from stock/or other roms? From forums here and xda, there's been issues with gingerbread roms and video recording. The framerate of the recorded videso are jerky and are about half. Does this rom suffer the same? I do field work and use video for before/after shots. I am about to order a refurb Infuse ($270 is not bad) as a test phone but that may be a couple weeks later. Seems to me, if there hasn't even been a leaked version of gingerbread(AT&T), it isn't even close to being released yet. It will be fun though when it does release and the problem will be...which ROM?!?!?

You have any pictures you can post up of serendipity? im on infused 2.1 and have been wondering about switching roms. most are ugly though imo.

Come to think of it att said they were going to update ALL the android phones in their line up by the end of August. My nephew got GB for his inspire .... so maybe as far as release dates go we'll get it in a few months ...

That being said.... att is a big enough company that has many employees working on this update. If the infuse got gb 6 mos after its release date, then there should be no reason (imo) why ALL of them should get it... ESPECIALLY if you can get it from Rodgers right out of the box..... its not like its NOT out there.

I used to have a bb and was always a bit jaded because there would be a leak for software V6.2.101.... then a week later V6.2.109.... what have you. I guess that's bitter sweet now.... sometimes I feel like not using a phone at all O_o!
