Got the GB Update: How do I benefit from Rooting?
So, my Infuse has been upgraded to the latest and greatest.
Great. Now, I am going to play with it and make it my own for a few days. My questions:
Do I want to root the device?
What will rooting allow me to do that I can't do now?
What are the major benefits to rooting? - 02-03-2012, 12:48 PM #2
Re: Got the GB Update: How do I benefit from Rooting?
The main reason I root my devices is so I can use things like Titanium Backup and AdFree. Those are about the only two reasons I root my devices.

Word up! If I had to pick ONE reason why I'm chomping at the bit for root access to the new OS, it'd be TBU. My second reason would be Barnacle WiFi Tether.
Here's a good write-up on what rooting is and why you may or may not want to do it:

Re: Got the GB Update: How do I benefit from Rooting?
I have *heard* (but don't necessarily believe it) that S1C has worked for one person who ran it multiple times (the exploit that is NOT psneuter.... forget the name of it exactly, sorry). But again, I don't quite believe it. Are you running S1C 2.3.3.0? It sounds like you might be running an earlier version (as it's freezing on you). The 2.3.3.0 runs all the way through (doesn't freeze), but doesn't get the job done. But anyway, that version that maybe works, would be version 2.3.3.0. I tried half a dozen times and it didn't though.
