Minneapolis, St Paul MN LTE.... sucks

AT&T it just opened up LTE in Minneapolis, Saint Paul yesterday and my god does it suck..... Battery!
My One X is almost unusable now! I am officially a member of the "I don't know if the battery drain is worth the additional speed" club.

Have you tried to change your APN settings so that all you get is HSPA+?

No, how do you do that? And with that can you turn LTE on and off as desired? My wife was complaining about the same thing on her iPhone 5 and within her settings there's a simple LTE "on or off" toggle. I don't see that on my One X.
