Default Early upgrade to AT&T Next?

    Hey all,

I last upgraded last June with the Galaxy S4. It was shortly thereafter that AT&T announced the Next program. As such, on paper I'm not eligible to go to that and upgrade until 2015.

I'm wondering if AT&T will allow an earlier upgrade in lieu of T-Mobile's announcement. Any thoughts?

I've been with AT&T literally for 15 years and don't mind paying a little more as I think of the big 4, they are probably the least evil and I've always had good service with them. But I also want a new device every year.

    Thanks

Never hurts to ask. The alternative is to pay full price for a new phone, but that's a big up front cost.

I have found with att if you ask nicely and treat them good normally they will budge to make you happy. Your luck will be with contacting them VIA 611. Store reps are well....Not on your side from my experience anyways. Like Mozman also said....Never hurts to ask!

I just read an article on CNET that AT&T is now allowing previous subscribers on 2 year contracts to join the next program as long as they joined before 1-18-2014.

I guess that's nice and all but its still a major rip off.

bored at work, i sat and did the math. My plan is 6gb plus 3 smartphones. Well use the G2 and iphone 5c as examples as thats what we would upgrade to if it were this month.
    2yr contract
    6bg $80
    3 SM $120
    =$200/mo
    X 24mo
    =4800
    + $0 LG G2
    +$50 iphone 5c blue
    + $50 iphone 5c pink
=$4900 over course of 24 mo contract before upgrade

NEXT 12 (20 months of payments)
    6bg $80
    3 SM $75
    =$155
    X 20mo
    =3100
    +550 iphone 5c blue
    +550 iphone 5c pink
    + $465 LG G2
=$4665 over course of 20 mo installment plan before upgrade AND you keep the phone

but add the other 4 months times the $155 and it comes out to $5285. Which i think is how we should look at this.

The only benefit i see is that you can upgrade 4 months earlier but at a higher per month cost, unless you pay off the phone in full before the 20 months is up. OR if you really REALLY just like having a new phone every 12months and willing to pay the LEASE. I'm looking at about $24/mo MORE than i pay now just to upgrade sooner versus November.

Overall, looks like a ripoff lol.

Don't get a Moto X via this promotion if you want a wood back. Wood is not an option if you use a redemption card.
