AT&T lets customers stream AT&T-owned DirecTV with zero data cost | The Verge

It looks like AT&T is taking a page from the T-Mobile "zero rating" book with their own service. You can stream DirecTV without having it hit your data cap.

They have a plan that if you have DirecTV you can get unlimited data through AT&T. If you chose not to do that and still have a metered plan this data will be exempt from it.

I agree. That is why I didn't like the T-Mobile thing the first time they even mentioned it for music. It just opens the flood gates for this kind of stuff.

If you have unlimited data it doesn't count toward the 22GB non potental throttle. But if you are over 22GB of regular data and on a congested tower you will be throttled even when using the Directv app.
