AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 - To Unlock or Not... that's the question.

Hi,

I just make the last payment on a Samsung Galaxy S5 through the AT&T Next program. I understand that I'd now be eligible to request the unlock code for the phone. While I've no current plans to move to another carrier I understand that if I travel overseas I could use the phone with a purchased SIM.

Basically... Is there any downside or reason not to get the phone unlocked? Am I correct that having the phone unlocked won't change anything with regard to my current AT&T service plan. I'll still receive OTA phone updates (such as they are).

Thanks for the information!

Unlocking the phone does only 1 thing - it stops complaining if a non-AT&T SIM is put into it. Nothing else.

So there's no reason to not unlock it.
