What is a good app to get to male calls from my nexus 7? Does google voice work for this? Thanks for your help.

Skype works. GrooveIP works well with a Google Voice number. Combine GrooveIP with the Google Voice app and you'll have voicemail and texting as well.

I use Google voice account with groove ip on my Nexus 10 and my galaxy tab 2 7.0. Works great on both of them. The Google voice account is free and the groove ip app has a free or a $5 version. It won't cost you a thing to make calls to the USA or Canada. Get groove ip from the play store and Google voice account from Google and you are set for making free calls.... As long as you have a wifi Internet connection!
It requires a wifi connection since these tablets don't have a radio for phone use.

Skype works just fine. Might try GrooveIP as well, however, at the moment I'm happy with Skype.
