Are there multiple stock headphone styles?

I was an S3 early adopter and I loved the stock headphones. I'm even a bit of an audiophile and still thought they sounded great. I even bought a pair of Klipsch Reference S4 iems, but thought the S3 headphones felt and sounded better.

But I washed them a few too many times and now they've stopped working. I bought some "genuine" s3/s4 headphones online and they sound like complete crap. They also didnt come with multiple ear bud size.

I read somewhere that Samsung changed to a cheaper headphone style recently. Is this true or did I just get knockoff headphones? The plastic also feels cheaper and the splitter says "FM" instead of "YL" like my last ones.
