Hi, I'm new here, so forgive my ignorance. I'm probably going to get the Incredible 2 in a month, but I just read that the OS is going to change from 2.2 or 2.3 to 3.3. If I buy a Dinc2 with the old OS on it, is there a way to upgrade the operating system (once it comes out) without doing some radical programing to the phone or can I simply download the updated OS?

thanks
Cyndi

When I got mine about a week and a half ago, I got an OTA update to 2.3.4.

If you want anything more than that, I think you have to root it.

That is true.

The most current stock Android OS for the phone is 2.3.4. You can go higher if you root, but until Android 4.0 ICS ROM's become available, you won't notice much of a difference from the OS version alone. Custom ROM's can give you lots of new features however from the interface and capabilities standpoint. For that you have to root, but you will often get better speed, battery life, functionality, etc. You can also get new interfaces like pure Android, Sense 3.0/3.5, etc.

The Sense version and Android OS version are two different things however.
