How do I set camera app on my Samsung S7 to make smaller (lower resolution) picture files?

On my Samsung S7 (running Android 8.0), the phone application (for taking still pictures) seems to have no way to set the compression level or file size of resulting pictures. In "pro" mode, I can change pixel aspect ratio and there are two settings (for each aspect ratio) that select pixel count, however, I cannot find any compression setting that would result in sufficiently small compressed image file size ("snapshot quality" is all that's needed.) Currently a somewhat cumbersome process involving transferring the file to my PC and re-sizing it is my work-around, however, that is a cumbersome and very inconvenient method.

Are you trying to compress the file so that you can send it via MMS?
