How do you disable the 'Add to Dictionary' popup without disabling spell checking on an Android?

The spell checking is required so that the words will appear underlined but the 'Add to Dictionary' popup blocks the correctly spelled word on which you need to tap. This is the most frustrating bug on my new phone.
