How to mute internal speakers when using Blu tooth headphones/ear buds

I'm pretty new to the smart phone experience and need some input or place to look for help.

I'm using an Essential PH-1 with Android 10

Could someone tell me how to mute my internal speaker when I'm trying to use my Blu tooth ear buds. They pair fine but I'm either not hearing any sound or it's being drowned out by the phones external speaker.

Thinking there must be an app in the store to control this.....but many to chose from and so far not seeming to find what I'm looking for. Perhaps someone will chime in on this and point me to a simple app that can do the job....perhaps even ad free and of a small size.

That's unusual, usually when you connect a headset all sound diverts to the headset. This is how my Pixel 2 XL works, and other devices before it.

Go to Settings>Bluetooth, tap the gear icon next to the earbud listing, and make sure Media Audio and Phone Audio are turned on.

Tozo T10.....it wasn't the fault of the buds. My fault not diving deeper/understanding the settings and choices therein..

BT headphones ought to connect to both Media and Phone Audio automatically, but if your phone routinely connects to other BT devices (like other headphones, smartwatches, your car stereo, etc.), those can sometimes compete.
