My S10 installed the 1 December 21 update & now my camera is stuck in night mode

[Android Central Question]

Camera version:

12.0.01.17

It was working perfectly before the update.

So i checked out my camera last night to find i couldn't disable night mode as i couldn't find an option in both camera or phone settings unless it's automatically switches to night mode.

Whenever i take a picture, it's a black screen even with flash. Went outside & still black.

I thought it would resolve the issue today but still stuck in night mode.

Here's some of the suggestions & possible solutions i've tried to no avail:

- Cleared camera cache & data.
- Hard reset.
- Increased camera & phone brightness.
- Went into phone settings. Switched between light and dark & went into dark mode settings. Switched between "sunset to sunrise" & custom schedule.
- Attempted to "fool" the camera by changing the clock to daytime.
- Downloaded two camera apps & the same still happens. Black screen.

Don't know what else i can do other than a factory reset which i don't want to do & even then, it may not help.

Would appreciate any & all help with my issue. Hopefully it can be resolved.

Welcome to Android Central! When you say "hard reset," I assume you mean a hard reboot (i.e., power off and power on), right? "Hard reset" usually means a factory data reset, but you already mentioned you haven't done that yet.

If factory reset doesn't help then hardware issue which means repair center

This was an official system update pushed over-the-air, or did you download it from a website and install it manually?

If you want you can try flash back to Andriod 11 through odin

You would have to try
1 factory reset
2 flash to Andriod 11
3 if those don't do it , repair shop .

Settings>Privacy>Camera Access was disabled after the update! I feel embarrassed that it turned out to be a simple solution. One last thank you for all of your suggestions and advice.

Hmm that should of reset when clear cameras data and force stop. But glad its ok now

I had this problem as well. I expected that if I picked NIGHT I would get a menu to leave Night Mode, but it did nothing. It turns out the back button exits Night Mode. Maybe this is common knowledge, but I didn't expect it.
