I want a notepad app in android phone that can open/edit and work like windows .txt file (like the notepad in windows). What android app can do that?
I have tried some app in android but after creating a new file in android, I am unable to transfer the file to windows because in windows I am unable to see the downloaded/exported file.

Thanks

I had to play around with it, but here are the steps:

1. Tap the rightmost icon at the bottom bar (that looks like two squares situated diagonally to each other, with two arrows), so that you see another bar above it with a big + button.

2. Tap the + button.

3. Under "Function type", tap the dropdown menu, then select "Internal command".

4. Tap the >> next to the Command option, and select "116 New file", then Ok/Apply.

5. You should now see a new icon in that 2nd bar for New File. Tap it, then enter a name for your new .txt file, and then start typing.

Your steps works. It it a little complicated and I might need to refer your steps here again. Thanks.

I just found another app that works too and the steps are more direct and simple, but it has a lot of ads. Text Editor - Create txt files https://forums.androidcentral.com/e.../details?id=com.prostudio.text&token=g4mcGuLQ

What do you use the Total Commander for, looks like need a long time to learn? I use [My Files] in Samsung, looks more simple.

Total Commander is admittedly not very intuitive. But I like it because it's pretty versatile, and is completely free and ad-free. It's been around forever, and the dev continues to support it.

Files by Google has become much better over the years (a big improvement over the very basic Android file manager app from the old days), so I typically use that more. But I still like having Total Commander around, because I don't think Files by Google gives you the option to create a new file. I haven't tried it with My Files yet.

If you have a Samsung phone, you can also use Samsung Notes.

Open Samsung Notes

Create New Note

Type Your Note

Select Three Dot Menu Upper Right Hand Corner

Select 'Save as file'

Select 'Text File'

Choose the location where you want to save file.
