Youtube music nor pandora in media player

I upgraded to a Pixel 5 and have a problem I haven't been able to solve. I'm having trouble with half of the applicable apps showing up in the media player (pull down menu/settings and the lock screen). Google Playlist and Spotify show up in it no problem. But if I'm using youtube music or Pandora, they don't show up in the player at all; I have to go directly to the app to pause, skip songs, etc.

I have not found the setting to remedy this. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Hmm this is weird. And it has happened from you got the phone? You could try clearing the cache in the pixel launcher through settings, apps. See if it happens after that.

Well I gave that a try. Cleared the cache for both Pandora and Youtube Music, and restarted the phone but still can't get either of them to show up in the media player.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps, and select YouTube Music, then Notifications. Is the Playback toggle turned on?
