Soft case/strap-like car mount?

I don't like window or dashboard mounts for my phone as the mounts tend to block a lot of the view out the front windshield. Plus I have a case on my phone which limits me to the "fits every phone" clamp style mounts.

My car has a perfect spot for my phone just to the left of my stereo. I envision using a soft case and straps. The straps would hook into my defroster vent above and a seam below. The phone would then rest against the dashboard in this soft case and I don't have to worry about taped on velcro ruining my car or anything. The power plug would then come up from the bottom and everything is neatly tucked out of the way and I can see the phone screen in landscape mode with just a small glance down to the right.

Has anyone done this type of thing? Have any suggestions of soft cases that allow the TB to be plugged in? Could I get vibrations with the phone resting against the car interior?

You might want to try something like this arkon mount, it uses a "sticky" suction, you can put it a lot of different places.
