Default 2750mAH Extended battery is worth the buldge

Wasn't sure if this is should go in the battery thread, so if it should just go ahead and move but for everyone who is complaining about battery life, just get the extended battery.

I've had it 2 days and it's amazing. Already on my second day I've had it off the charger for 2 hours and used it pretty heavily and I'm still at 100%.

I don't know if I will use it all the time because it definitely is bulky but for those times when I need long battery life, like today.

I would say it's definitely worth the $50 (although I got it for 25% discount) so it was only $37.

It definitely adds some bulk but it's do-able. I would suggest anyone who is complaining about battery life to pay the $50 for the extended. You will be happy!

Yea, I am doing the recycle phone thing with Verizon and hopefully will get a $30 VZW gift card and use it to get one. I will probably use the battery if we go on vacation or something. I can see this coming in handy in a place like Disney or some other theme park type situation where I can't just take a break from the heat and recharge my phone.

I bought it too for $37. I don't mind the look, but the weight is very noticeable, especially if you're on you back holding it up and surfing. I have a charger most everywhere I go, so I have had zero battery issues. I mostly bought the big backup for when I go to the beach, or park, or somewhere where I won't be able to charge. It's a great backup batt.

When I first saw pictures of this on the Web I thougjt it looked horrible, but it really is not so bad in person. Peffect for long flights and having 1 or 2 standard batteries charged up and ready to go when you land. I've always travelled with 3 batteries on my last 4 phones.

    Thanks, Robrecht

What is the best way to charge one of these while not in your phone? If I take the extended battery with me to work, and then switch in a fully charged normal battery when I get home..

I agree with the OP. Its really a good purchase especially if you need to actually use the phone and not worry about how it looks. Lots of work emails and calls for me so I'm used to it. All extended batteries that do not use the stock door make the phone bigger. I'm not sure why there is so much complaining about this one.

I purchased the 2750 mah battery....best $40 I spent on accessories yet...moderate useage with four hours off charger and I'm still at 95%....well worth the money.

The TB for me is a pure lte modem....as such I can bump it or plug it in for lengthy tethering sessions. I have an extra OEM battery but have no plans to use a new batttery back. Waiting for a 1800 for the ttb.

Totally agree....extended battery is not as bulky as it appears in pictures. Plus the difference is night and day. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I like the fact that I have something to grab. Without the extended battery, I felt like I was always about ready to drop the TB. With the extended battery, it feels like I have a sturdier grip on the phone. Plus I have no "range anxiety" about running out of battery. Fully recommend.

I was thinking about getting the extended battery for a bit. I decided i was going to pass on it when I went to the Verizon Wireless store looking for a case and screen protector. It was impossible to find a case that would cover my DInc and it's extended battery no matter where I looked.

Thanks a lot jerks, now I am thinking about getting it again haha. The case thing is the only thing that is holding me back. The price is justified by how much battery life you get out of it but I want to also have a case for the TBolt as well. Why can't more accessory manufacturers cater to the power user customers? Build us a case. I can guarantee that if 1 manufacturer designed a case for the DInc's extended battery it would have sold a boat load because there wouldn't be any other options.

Just got it today, and it is definitely worth it.

A great fix til we can get the phone rooted and really start to maximize power consumption!

Yep, can def see using this on flights. I picked one up tonight and it's charging now. The bulk isn't too bad in person and it definitely is more comfortable to hold now. I'm not going to make any changes to my settings tomorrow to see how much longer it will last. Then I'm looking forward to turning some settings back up again like more frequent updates and brighter screen. The biggest use I'll get out of this is on weekends when I'm frequently away from a charger. During the week I just keep it plugged in while in the office.

The 2750mAH Extended Battery is a necessary evil with this phone, especially if you live in an LTE market.I know alot of people say they'll just carry an extra battery and swap out but my Bolts' battery door is a PITA to open. I would be seriously afraid of breaking it by continually taking it off and on.

HTC KNEW the standard batteries wouldn't provide enough power for a full day of heavy use. I understand these phones use a tremendous amount of battery power, and battery technology is not up to the task.

But what I find unacceptable is this: Why did they make the back cover SO HARD TO REMOVE?!

If we are going to forced to carry multiple batteries with us through out our work days, THE VERY LEAST they could have done is make it EASY to swap out batteries!!!!

I can guarantee that if 1 manufacturer designed a battery that would give the Thunderbolt two days worth of heavy use on a single charge AND have it fit in the original size phone body - HTC would sell 10x as many phones.

I had that same worry as well- however I found the trick is to not pull from the notch, but instead use that to put your fingernail in and slide your fingernail to the side. It will pop right off quite easily.

Does anyone know if a 1800mah battery is coming out? Or do you think there will only be the oem and the extended?

    Thanks

I agree that the bulk is not that bad. So far I haven't had the need to use the extended battery but I always have it with me wherever I go, just in case.

When I had a spare battery for Samsung Fascinate, it came with a charging pod which enabled me to recharge the spare battery in the pod while charging the battery in the phone at the same time. Does anyone know if there is a charging pod available?

And, the media dock that has a battery slot for charging spare battery - can it charge the extended battery too? or just a regular size battery?

prakash, I have only seen that describs what you want. The descrption says you can charge the battery and has a USB for chaging the phone at the same time.

Honestly I can't understand how can anyone have this phone in a LTE Area without using the extended battery!

I know it might seem "bulky" for some, but I rather carry somewhat of a bulky phone than a phone dying on me 3 times a day.

Even with this extended battery I don't get a full day of battery for my Thunderbolt. As soon as Seidio comes out with the 3500mah battery I'll be purchasing that one!

    ITS A MUST for me.

My experience with the extended battery has been amazing compared to stock. Last night at 85% I took it off the charger to go out at 10pm. 19 hours later and the battery is now down to 15%. That includes 6 hours of sleeping, but the rest was heavy usage. Lots of photo taking, video shooting, emailing of videos and photos, facebook, twitter, browsing, foursqaure (GPS on), few phone calls and some gaming. much heavier use than I did with the stock battery. And all of it was on 4G too. Sure, it's a little bulkier, but I'll take the tradeoff for this kind of performance!

I just picked up the extended battery today- took a while to finally get one b/c everywhere around Fairfax was sold out- at least according to the rep who said it's sold out nationwide and he could order one for me haha.

I've seen pictures of the ext battery and it looks a lot better in person. It does give the phone a lot more weight, but being able to know the phone will last the whole day is well worth it.

I modified my cheap silicon case that I bought off Amazon to fit the phone and it fits snug. I need to trim it a little more aka straighten the lines up, but Im happy with it.

Here is a quick picture of it..
