Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
When I get to step 7 the black box only pops up for a split second. Any idea of what I could be doing wrong?

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
What exactly is missing so I can update the guide? I haven't tried this method out yet.
Here's step #10
10) Now you will still be at the bootloader screen... Push volume down to highlight recovery and push power once again to select it and boot into recovery. Now you can use the recovery and install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip to get root.
What exactly is happening? Are you not at the bootloader screen after step 9? - 10-02-2011, 11:55 AM #28Thanked by:

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
You see it right at 7:00 on the video. Not a big deal as the video makes it clear. It should be written a bit more like:
10) Now you will still be at the bootloader screen. Press power to enter the recovery screen. Push volume down to highlight recovery and push power once again to select it and boot into recovery. Now you can use the recovery and install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip to get root.Thanked by: - 10-02-2011, 12:11 PM #32

If I unroot to stock but elect to keep the revolutionary permanent bootloader will flashing their mr2 you've linked to return the bloatware that bamf takes off? I would want that back if I needed warranty work.
If I simply return to stock rom s on and download some future ota will that automatically return me to s off or would it brick my phone? - 10-02-2011, 12:38 PM #34

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
Yes... it will put all the bloat back on the phone. I wouldn't accept any OTAs while still rooted. I think with Revolutionary, you are protected from accidently updating any OTAs. It should be in the unroot part of the guide if i remember correctly. Just use the leaked versions made for root.. its the same stuff plus you'll receive it from the devs way before Verizon releases anything. Again.. I never tried this method for rooting or unrooting yet.

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
I have (had) the OTA GB update and tried this method but ran into some problems... I typed "Y" to install the recovery when asked but I don't think anything happened. I also ended up rebooting at the end and never booted into recovery. It ended up "updating" to an older software version and wiped all my data. I've got S-off but can't get root access. I've tried installing Superuser from Market but can't update my binary (I've also bought the Superuser Elite and tried installing that), it keeps force closing right at the end of the update. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

*UPDATE* I figured it out. I had to re-read the posts about choosing "BOOTLOADER" then "RECOVERY" and now I have the SU installed. All good nowLast edited by QUIK_LS1; 10-02-2011 at 08:26 PM. Reason: Issue solved

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
I needed to get out to be able to use my phone. Still have s-off, but when I reboot with volume down & power, while I see recovery as an option, I still can't select recovery. It shows the list starting with fastboot, and I can't use my volume button to select any of the other options.
Any suggestions? Should I just run everything again from scratch and see if that will work?
Thanks! - 10-03-2011, 09:31 AM

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
Quick question from a soon to be first time rooter.. I have HTC BMP usb driver, and the HTC driver installer currently installed on the computer I plan on using to do this. Will those affect running revolutionary? I noticed in the video he said that if you had SYNC installed to remove it before starting.

Re: [GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary
Well that was easy! Worked great! I can now verify it works flawlessly with the new verizon Gingerbread OTA. I was quick enough to get the update before they pulled it.
