Quick question - I rooted using this method, then later unrooted but followed the instructions to leave the permanent hboot in place. Now if I want to root again, do I still need to downgrade to .5 first?

Thanks!

Ok I have revolutionary on my thunderbolt with S-off. I press Vol Down and select RECOVERY by pressing Power. I get the white HTC screen for a few seconds but then it goes black and i get a little icon of a phone with a red ! mark. What gives?? I have this file on the SD card: Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip

After getting the bootloader back to the original s-off, engineering 1.04.2000 hboot download these 2 files:
1)PG05IMG_1.70.605.0_nohboot.zip
md5: c2c61df561e8a74cd103f0b9b89d81d6
and
2) PG05IMG_hboot_only_1.04.0000
md5: 584a4cdc12658835cb2a7885e8e44fd2

Links for these files are down, does anyone have another source or mirror? I need to send this phone back to Verizon before Thursday or I'm paying for it :(

I don't know what happened here, as I'm new to rooting, but I followed all instructions down to the letter and yet after I get to the part where I should move into "Recovery" from the bootloader screen, for some reason when im hitting down on my volume button nothing is happening and it just goes back into the hboot loader and starts checking for the PG05IMG file again.

It sounds like you have a corrupted recovery. You have a couple options. You can run revolutionary again and let it flash clockwork mod for you. Or you can find a recovery you want and flash it in Hboot. TWRP 2.0 is what i'm still using, even though I heard the support for it is done. A quick google should lead you to links to any of the recoveries you want.

Take your battery out, after replacing it, Hold Volume down before you press the power button, the hold both until it boots up. If you still have issues you might have a corrupted recovery like the reply above.

I'm attempting the unroot process and I get to the point in fastboot where I am to flash the new hboot. It allows me to "unlock the bootloader" or so it seems, but there is just a constant error and says that I cannot flash the new hboot. Any help would be amazing...

Either the forum BBcode filters messed up, or you may have just typed it incorrectly. But the new link for the first file does not function as a correct 'HREF' link.

Link reads incorrectly as the following, please correct this at your earliest convenience as I would thoroughly appreciate it! Thanks
Code:
1)[URL=" http://www.[b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b].com/file/2661536462/PG05IMG_no_hboot_2.11.605.9.zip "]PG05IMG_1.70.605.0_nohboot.zip[/URL]

The linked thread, has the info in the OP removed."
Here's How to Downgrade: [HOW-TO]Downgrade to get S-OFF after updating to latest OTA 2.11.605.9 - xda-developers"

Can you provide the current information for the downgrading method??

Whoohoo!!

After several hours of reading and rereading and re-rereading all the info about Revolutionary and the fr3evo temp root method to make sure I understood completely, I successfully rooted my Thunderbolt with 2.11.605.9 firmware.

It took all of 15 minutes to perform the actual steps.

I just rooted my TBolt last night using the "WITHOUT downgrade" method and it worked great! The only issue I had (and I may have missed something, this was my first time rooting) is that the HTC drivers were not linked in the post, only in nat3mil's video. I tried to strictly follow the post, but once I went to run Revolutionary, it would not recognize my device. Following the video then, once I got the drivers installed on my computer, everything went perfectly. I also uninstalled iTunes and Google Music from my computer, per nat3mil's FAQs, so it may have been that, and not the drivers. Either way, thank you CW!!

Not a problem.. I'll add back the driver download links to the op.. thanks.
