4G in AOSP vs Sense
I know gps locks in faster in sense than aosp.

Obviously there are different factors present in each ROM that influence these results. I don't know if this proves that AOSP ROMs have faster 4G speeds than Sense ROMs, but I do know one thing: I won't be using IKreaM El Nino anymore! Although I will try testing some of R3Ds' other ROMs to see if I get similar results.
If anyone has the time and inclination, I'd love to know if these results coincide with your findings between ROMs. After I test the other ROMs, I'll add them to this list.Last edited by mightyfacundo; 07-30-2012 at 02:56 PM.

I was happy to see R3Ds' IKreaM RLS ROM do so much better than his EL Nino ROM. I think he makes some of the best looking ROMs available, so it's nice to see that the performance matches the appearance. Bully Desensed is the clear winner in download speeds so far at a whopping 20.708 Mbps, which is pretty impressive and means I'll be spending more time with it in the future. I like Plan 9's Red Theme, so I'm glad to see it perform well, and I'm a little surprised that Thundershed didn't do better considering how smooth it is overall. Also, I like that SoaB had better scores than Eternity, since that's my preferred Sense 3.5 ROM.

Really great work, much appreciated! I've never had any interest in desensed roms but may be worth a try while we wqit for ics!

I did Stock 2.1 (Rooted Stock), but I was thinking the same thing about Bully; it might just have had a really good day. I'm also gonna test Gingeritis 3D, BAMF Cubed 1.10, Sky Raider Zeus 1.3, and Accense 1.2. I should have some time next week to run the tests, and I'll let you know.

Back with Round 3. I re-tested Bully 1.7, and while it still performed well, it was unable to duplicate the results from the first test. And after testing 2 more BAMF ROMs, they win the award for consistency. Here ya go:LiquidSmooth 3.2:

When RecDNA posed his question, I was definitely intrigued and set out to find out if Sense ROMs were faster than AOSP ROMs or vice versa. After testing 17 ROMs, I can say that, on average, on my phone, and in my area, there really isn't much difference:
Sense ROMs
Average Download: 13.907 Mbps
AOSP ROMs*
Average Download: 13.456 Mbps
Sense ROMs
Average Upload: 9.341 Mbps
AOSP ROMs*
Average Upload: 9.678 Mbps
There are differences between ROMs, but as you can see, the results are so close that there might as well not be any difference between AOSP and Sense.
*I left IKreaM El Nino out of the results until I have a chance to re-test it. Bully had a good day, and I'm starting to think that El Nino just had a really bad day.....Last edited by mightyfacundo; 09-26-2012 at 03:20 PM.

dang should have looked here first. i just posted a thread about speeds in the other section. was at VZW tonight and the samsung S3 did 27Mps down and mine did about 5mps down.
running jelly blur v 1.3 rom OC to 1.4ghz.

@ mightyfacundo.... mad props to you for taking the time to put all this together. I noticed that you said you ran all of these test from the same place, but what about the time of day? I can def tell a difference here in jacksonville FL. I have higher speeds between noon and 3pm (coincidentally all the kids are in school and not allowed to use their phones) and slower speeds always between 3 and 8 pm.

I have also noticed that time and day of the week have an impact on the results. To illustrate your point, I get between 10-12 down and 5-6 up from my house during the week, but on weekends, those speeds drop to 5-7 down and 2-3 up. Originally Posted by ssethv

Here are the results for NuSense v6.4. Like the others, these were taken from the same place, the same server, at 10:35 am this morning, using the Speed Test app. I ran the test 10 times.
