I'm super pumped for perm root. I can wait for custom roms, but this bloatware needs to GO.

I've had a Droid X but bought the Thunderbolt today and gave the Droid X to my spouse....which was super-easy to root and I got rid off all the bloatware, but the Thunderbolt is chock-full of that stuff, which I will never use. I hope that there'll be a one-click root solution out soon, because all of that stuff is running in the background....got the phone at 9:15 this morning and had to recharge it twice already, and I know it's partially because of the stuff running in the background, besides some other tweaks.

Do you think it will be like z4 root so you can one touch root and one touch unroot?

So the OS firmware that the phone was release with can't be rooted, it has to be downgraded, so is the firmware that's rooted a older firmware?

I am still waiting for S-OFF. I want custom recovery
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me - 03-18-2011, 09:12 PM #22
I'm in a little debate. Should I root my TB? I don't have a lot of experience doing this. I mean I did root my Xoom but that was the very first thing I have ever rooted and the first time I had ever used adb. Is it safe to try? Is it worth it right now or should I wait until a much cleaner root is available?

Probably gonna pass on the rooting for now since I don't want to downgrade to the older firmware, as required by this particular root method
Once we get S-off and recovery, however, I'm all game

So we can root now?
