Ahh, I had someone on XDA make me a sweet custom splash screen and I love it. But what I would really love it to be able to compile new splash screens myself into the PG05IMG.zip format. Does anyone have a link to a guide on how to do it?? Please and thank you!

Yes, it is actually completely separate from a ROM flash. The splash screen will always stay however you have it set no matter what rom you flash. You will be using the bootloader to flash the splash screen. It is something that the recovery can't flash *to my knowledge anyways*

Hey I was wondering if anyone could make one for the Thunderbolt from this image. Sorry it's in a PSD and not any other format! I was kind of going for that slick Nexus S look. Oh and by the way i'm kind of new to this attaching images thing, in fact im kind of new to forums in general, so please forgive my if i've made any fatal mistakes or rule breakages!

Do you have to flash this on or can you just use adb to move it into the correct folder? If you can use adb do you know what the original htc file is named?

Any idea what the white htc screen is named? I'd like to move it to my sd card with adb.

Thanks for the help, but maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way. I was looking to find the file to move it off the phone and just replace it. I figured if I did this it would let me move the file back when I an OTA update comes out.

Edit: If you watch this video you'll see they added a custom boot animation, but the HTC screen still shows up. That is the screen I want to remove.

Nice... I can't believe I found this thread just now. Hmmm .. which one to use. How do we get the old splash screen back on if I ever want to go back to stock? Will a factory reset take care of that?

You need the file a data wipe wont do it.

Not sure but an ruu zip, like if you're unrooting/going back to stock might revert it, but i dont really know for sure

I wonder if the Thread I started on how to "Create you OWN splash1 screen" in the incredible forums will work the same way for this phone.. both screens are the same resolution, im guessing if I just change the zip from PB31IMG to PB05IMG it would work for this phone too... I will try it out later.
