Please Help!!! What happened to my Marketplace?
Hello Everyone,
Can someone please help me here? I just finished installing my first root. I used the easy download method stickied at the top of this page. My problem is after rooting and then going to marketplace to get Rom Manager, all of my previous apps began to download. That was fine I think. Then Marketplace started to freeze. Now my phone wont stop attempting to download all 200 or so apps I had installed. The apps are trying to dowload and in the status bar it reads a web address or something for the corresponding app instead of the app name itself. In addition all apps are returning unsuccessful download errors. Can I not access Marketplace anymore? What did I do wrong? Please help
Thank You - 05-03-2011, 12:33 AM

Please.. Any help would be appreciated. I've looked everywhere and this whole rooting process is giving me a headache. Ive been trying to figure out why my marketplace is messed up for the last few hours and I'm about over it. It looks like I'm going to have to go back to stock if I can figure that out

Have you tried rebooting or perhaps pulling the battery?
If you don't have an iPhone.... Well you're probably doing alright.

When you boot back up. Check to see what version the market is.

yea that should be good. Im surprised there isnt any one else replying to this thread right now. I havent ran into this issue myself. I just hate hearing someone is having an issue and i put myself in their shoes.
So its still attempting to download all those apps?
if so try going to one of them press and hold till a menu pops up and select cancel download. Do this to all of them and try downloading one by one.If you don't have an iPhone.... Well you're probably doing alright.

Im surprised no one else is responding either. I'm freaking out over here. I was scared to do a root to begin with and this isn't helping. I hope I can undo what has been done. But no the apps are not trying to download by themselves. But when I go into the Market>My Apps, the list of all of my apps are there but it looks like I have to download them manually. But when I try, I get the same error....Thank you for trying to help me. I really appreciate it. I hope I didn't break anything

I just figure since nothing else is currently giving you any issues other than the market. Removing it and installing it again would be a good idea. Or try doing the following:
settings>manage applications>all>market>clear cacheIf you don't have an iPhone.... Well you're probably doing alright.

200 apps!?! Holy hell!
Sounds to me like market freaked out on you. Did you install Clockwork Recovery by any chance? Getting to recovery would be a mighty fine idea ATM. If not maybe one of the fellas can push it to you.
I have a feeling data wipe may be coming... but we'll steer clear of that for now. - 05-03-2011, 02:15 AM

OK i may have found a way. You'll have to uninstall the Market app you have now and download it again reinstall it. You will have to download several apps to get this to work since you do not have a working market.
go to applanet.net from your thunderbolt. it will pop up "save as" click ok once it downloads click it and select install. Then once it installs click open and search Astro file manager and install it.
Finally head over to and download that apk file and put it on the root of your sd card.
unplug phone from pc and open astro file manager and find the com.android.vending-2.3.6.apk click it and click open app manager then click install. If you don't have an iPhone.... Well you're probably doing alright.

Good work Patriots.
I'd like to throw in:
Download Titanium Manager once you get everything working. This will back up apps/some data. I use it just for apps. If you ever flash anything, use this to back up your apps before you open market because if you go to market first it'll try and restore what you had and I think you just made it blow a gasket because it was trying to download and restore so much all at once.
Live and learn my friend. - 05-03-2011, 02:24 AM #25If you don't have an iPhone.... Well you're probably doing alright.
