Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
Received mine OTA last night. Had to go to "Service Station" and "Check for Updates." After installing it optimized all my apps. Some apps updated. Seems to load faster, looks crisper, home screen easy to customize and previous media problem solved.

So far I think the web browser is about 100 times better. Seriously.

No ics upgrade has hopped into my Thrive's service station yet. Anyone else still awaiting ics on your Thrive?

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
Thought I'd update my experience. So far I've only found one problem (at least for me) with this update.
When I wake the tablet from sleep it won't always connect with my network. When I go to network settings to connect manually it says something like "network not in range." And I can be standing next to my router, BTW. If I then turn off the WiFi on the tablet and then turn it back on, it connects and is fine again. It has done this three or four times so far. Obviously it's not the end of the World, but it is a bit annoying. It has never not connected automatically before this update.
I have another Thrive that I have not updated yet. When I get to it, I will see if it behaves the same way.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Oh yeah, my camera app froze up the first time I tried to use it, but it's been fine since. I don't really use the camera anyway, but I did want to test it since that was supposedly one of the noted improvements. I wouldn't say crashing is an improvement, but oh well...lol! The gallery is AWESOME now though!Last edited by chuckh0308; 08-09-2012 at 03:40 AM. Reason: add info

Common issue with wifi. I think it is relearning the wifi settings and proximity so give it a couple of days to settle in. I had similar issues right after installing
As far as the camera you need to give some time for the tablet to settle in with the new update

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
Interesting...
No WiFi problems today, but the camera did crash again when I tried to switch to the video camera.
I also experienced the "sleep of death" that we had with the original software and a few random times on the previous software.
All in all I'm still pleased with the update, but I think they may have pushed it out a little bit before it was ready. Hopefully any little bugs will be taken care of with another update later. - 08-09-2012, 11:58 PM #70
Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
Force close camera app. Then Clear cache and data in the camera app. Try again.
Mine is rooted so the ROM that was put out had some extra "tweaks" to make it faster. The need to overclock is not even a concern.
No OTA is ever perfect. Coming from the EVO 4g, the Gingerbread OTA for that was a mess compared to this.TOSHIBA Thrive • Pio's Team Baked BlackBean 4.1.2 ROM

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
I got my ICS update for my Thrive today and all seems good. The only problem I still have is even though you can moves apps to storage it's still not enough space because Toshiba didn't remove or change the app limit size. Hope they can change in future update.

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
NO UPDATES, My service station has the last update sometime Nov 14. Toshiba is shortchanging me. I registered the tablet to a US address, was purcahsed in the US but i am currently in Latin America. Anyone else having this problem. I find the AT105's performance to be terrible with the current build. Everything slow and choppy etc.

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
I assume you know that the major updates aren't automatic and require user's action to download and install.
Have you pressed CHECK FOR UPDATES in Service Station?
Not sure how updates are aimed at our Thrives . . . but perhaps an update server for U.S. address Thrives doesn't exist for your present location?
So, have you contacted Toshiba for instructions/advice?
May you have a successful ending to your no-recent-updates prob!
P.S. On my Thrive most major updates do not appear in Service Station until my Thrive accepts the prior update(s). All updates are listed, with links, on the Toshiba Thrive support site.Last edited by hummingbirdhill; 08-15-2012 at 03:55 PM.

Re: Ice Cream Sandwich for Thrive?
Totally loving ICS.
First I had to install February's minor update in order to see the ICS update option. Thanks everyone for pointing out ICS availability or I would have never known.
Feels smooth. Looks great... I had forgotten ICS comes with improved fonts. It's a great update! - 09-04-2012, 09:29 PM #75

Quick note on Browsers since ICS is here;
Firefox is working really well on the Thrive w/ICS
