Hey guys - my mother in law has a Toshiba Thrive and she is happy with it but she is moving. Her device is WiFi only but I was wondering if people had any luck getting one of those 3g/4g data cards for it?

it seems like the ones they sell for laptops would be too big to make using them on a tablet convenient. do they make smaller ones?

any advice would be appreciated - i know nothing about tablet computers.

I think most carriers sell a wireless hotspot card. It is about the size of a credit card and is a stand alone device, I know Verizon has one. It is called a mifi.

I have one and it's about 50 bucks a month for 5 gigs on Verizon. If you go over that allowance it's $10 per gigabytes.

You can connect up to 5 devices wirelessly. Works on 4g LTE if it is available in her area.

Hope this helps!

wow - cool
thanks man!

this technology has definitely left me behind. i'll look into it.

at $50 it might just be cheaper to get the local cable provider.
the obvious advantage to what you're talking about however is that you can take it with you, right? perfect for people who travel.

Verizon also has the hotspots available on a pre-pay plan. According to the salesperson, it's also $50 a month but with unlimited data.
