Hey, I have the Samsung Galaxy S Showcase (the one with Cellular South) I need to root it, but every time i try to it says E:Signature Failed then Installation Aborted when i try to instal the update.zip from the SD Card... Any ideas?

What root method are you using?

downloaded the update.zip and booting into recorvery and trying to install from sd card

I'm not familiar with that one for our phone, but you can just install the app z4root and use that, and it should work fine. That's how I rooted mine.

Hmmm how do you feel about buying a PC lol j/k dont know what to tell you. maybe run windows emulator on there

i just tryed super one click on my super old pc and it didnt work... it never got past waiting for device.. usb debugging is on

ok.. i got z4root... it is stuck on the turning gears and at the bottom it says running exploit in order to obtain root access... and it wont get past that

you may need to install the adb drivers. and check the device manager on the pc make sure there is no ! marks

it installed superuser but it didnt ask me to enable... and when i open z4root it doesnt have the option to unroot? so im guessing its not rooted?

thats great, congrats, what exactly was the key to getting this done so we can help others.... And since the Showcase is a Galaxy S here in US i believe that Froyo has not been released yet. Trust me i have the fascinate and would love to have Froyo, but the phone still runs great on eclair

Umm it sounds like you are already rooted... If you are booting into recovery... there is no official update.zip if im not mistaken but it is possible to do under many steps. You may want to look into downloading SuperUser and/or RomManager and/or Titanium BackUp and it should give you a status on if your rooted or not. If I am able to upload z4root I will but I believe it is saved on my phone and my phone is at home and Im at work so some delay there.
