Cool Is a "Spare" Galaxy S3 Useful for Stuff (GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth) if Rooted & Without Cell Service?

Hey, I am a newbie and appreciate the help. I am a US Cellular customer and am going to have enough points to get a free Samsung Galaxy S3 next month; however, I am probably going to cancel my service immediately after that because I am going to get a subsidized phone though my employer.

Is it possible to use this phone for WiFi access, GPS, remote control/Bluetooth functionality? It would be nice if it were worth more than a brick. Not many companies advertise they are buying US Cellular equipment.

    Thanks!

You should have no problem using Wi-Fi. I think GPS you would need to download your maps while on Wi-Fi.
