Default Unknown Icon in the Notification bar?

    Hello fellow Droidsters...
I have a question about an icon appearing in my notification window. I cannot fine it in the manual, nor have I been able to find it in any previous posts. Seems it has always been there, and the people at Verizon don't even have a clue. I am running stock (unrooted) 2.2.1. attached is a screenshot of homepage with icon highlighted. any assistance will be appreciated. thx

That is the icon for location services are turned on... basically the GPS is turned on.

That icon will always be there, unless you flash a custom ROM that removes it. Like Zuma said, it's the location services (ie: 911, GPS) the little "waves" coming off the right hand side of it indicate when the GPS is turned on.
