I see all the posts about all day on a charge and these crazy hours without charging I do some texting and check facebook maybe once an hour or so but nothing abnormal and hardly ever talk on the phone and I am having to charge up during the middle of the day and its dead again before bed time.

I just changed to the new gingerbread leak that everyone on xda was raving about any hints or tricks???

No custom rom or anything has helped me significantly. Always have gotten, always will get 6-8 hours for me.

I think it has to do with usage and signal strength.

Re: How do you get all day on a charge, I am charging twice a day

Rooted and running altered beast oddly enough. Make it through the day easily. Hell i even run cpu/ram monitor widgets that update and are known to be a juice hog (granted set update to every 4 hours).

That being said i think the main drain factor is the phone searching for a 4G signal. If you don't live in a steady 4G area i would keep the phone on 3G only until it becomes more stable. I travel a lot with work and the number 1 thing i have witnessed when it comes to battery consumption is if the phone can't get a 4G signal. It constantly burns through battery juice trying to find it. So if your not in a 4G area, switch to 3G only mode until your back in 4G range.

That and i also keep my screen at 51% brightness because running it at full blast burns through the battery too. Hope this helps.

I am in oklahoma city we have 4g within an hour pretty much in any direction 4g is good here almost full signal anywhere so its not a signal issue has to be something else blah and I keep my screen on half or less bright also...

do you run live wall paper? do you leave the location doors open? do you play for a few hours on a battery drawdown game? how about using power saver. crap ev thing uses power, is yer phone on constant alert waiting for yer beconing use? ev thing plays a great part in bat drains.. i noticed when i play texas holdem pro mine uses bat pretty fast... but not as bad as expected.

ok bat dropped 7 points in about 2 hrs setting in standby.. crap even standby uses bat.
i may go back to the FE2.0 but for now i'll stick here with GBE a day or so,, kinda let the battery feel its way around...they say it takes a few days for the bat to settle down.. so give it a chance and while yer driving around plug in the auto charger.. thus a nice hot phone ready to rule.. there is another rom i tried where bat was real slow call ah crap something infinity... fire up logo was Galaxy S11.. it was smooth as silk but i felt i was in the outside looking in on the different roms... give it time,,oh remember quadrant prog uses bat power.. mine is faster than i am so its fast enough.

Turn GPS off if you're not using it. Check the poll/push frequency times of your email, facebook, twitter, etc. accounts.

I don't get a full day out of my phone either, but I have a charger in my car, and I carry my wall charger with me to charge in my office if needed. I also carry a spare battery. All this allows me to use my phone as much as I want and not worry about how fast the battery is draining. With the LTE radio and Samoled + screen, you are going to use the battery quickly.

I can get 1.5 days easily. I use the juice defender app (free). the biggest drain on smartphones is their data connection - especially 4G. if you don't need the extra speed, switch it to 3G mode. if you don't need data during the day (like me, as I sit behind a computer all day at work), then juice defender will turn off mobile data (cycling it on for a minute every 15 minutes), thus enabling your battery to last longer. other battery drainers are leaving on WiFi with no connection, GPS when not needed, and bluetooth when not connected.

It's a Verizon Signal Technology and Antenna/Signal Strength issue. Any Verizon phone (not on 4g) and with poor antenna or signal strength will drain the battery. My BlackBerry had a better antenna and signal strength and wasn't as bad as the Charge, but both suck a battery dry faster than you can turn around when you leave a 3g area. I hope they can get the 4g 100% US coverage soon and eliminate this.

I'll soon start looking for the external antenna cable to connect to the Charge (connector in inside the back cover) and start using a real antenna if it doesn't happen soon.

Re: How do you get all day on a charge, I am charging twice a day

My .04 cents worth of results on my phone are as follows. I am not rooted, leave GPS off, Bluetooth off, WiFi on, brightness throttled between 70%-75%, and have 3 email accounts pushed to me. I have a local temp. that refreshed every 15 minutes (weather notification from the market) and a clock. I don't do a great deal of talking on the phone but am on the net quite a bit. I am on a 3g network but I leave the 4g on in the event they may start "test" as I heard they were laying fiber optics to the a lot of the tower sites in N. Michigan so I would not want to miss out on anything. With all of this said now I get 20 to 24 hours on a battery. With heavy usage (lots of talk and net) I will get all day on a battery and it will go dead sometime in the evening.
I have a spare battery and desk top charger and use it. I run the brightness even higher on some days or when I want to show it off because you have to admit it is the best screen out there now. If I feel I will need more battery on a long day I take a charged one with me in the morning. I appreciate everything this phone does for me and I do not complain about how long my battery lasts because I feel it is very fair for everything that it does.
In closing I leave the WiFi on because I find that the phone runs much cooler when I am on the net than it does when I am pulling the net off of Verizon. On WiFi the phone is noticeably cooler and of course faster. So if I am at a casino, home, out to eat, or even at the store I connect automatically and life is good. Hope I did not bore you with my results. :-[

I have similar problems, but I found that this helps: when I am indoors, I use an app called ScreenFilter that lowers the screen brightness beyond the normal settings.

Picked up an extended battery and back door from amazon. Battery life now back into the realm of good-enough. One less thing to worry about.

As a note since it applies to some people. The Yahoo mail app and the Charge do not play well together. If you are using this app and want to improve your battery life..... Either delete the app or set the notfications to off.

And as others have said....... If you do not live in a 4g area, turn off the 4g on the phone.

So far i don't get any worse battery life than I did on my Palm Pre. 4g area. No wifi. Gps on. Email set to interval check rather than push on two exchange accounts and gmail. Needs daily charge.
It does seem like it takes longer than the Pre to charge fully.

Interesting that JD works with your phone as Juice Defender developer has confirmed there is a problem with mobile data and the Charge when running JD, see here...

Re: How do you get all day on a charge, I am charging twice a day

Just picked up the Charge, came from DroidX where I was running Juice Defender to get better battery life. So far though the Charge without JD hasn't been too bad comparatively. I'm running 8 hours now on battery and at 65%. So if my use for the day remains about the same I should make it through the day easily on a single charge.

BTW, I have my Wifi, GPS and 4G Mobile Data all left as "on" and let the device manage them. I use it mostly for texting, but also have some games I've played today and also used the Google Nav. I'm also running stock and have 3 email accounts set to poll every 15 minutes and have weather updated every 15 min as well for homescreen. Much better battery life than I experienced with using the Thunderbolt.
