Service Mode on Charge?

As most of you probably know, the signal strength on the Charge when you go to Settings/About Phone/Status shows strength for EVDO or 3G. I saw in a recent AnandTech article (link below) that you can see the LTE signal strength on the Charge by going to service mode. The article mentions to use *#0011# to get to ServiceMode to see this. Maybe I'm going about it wrong, but when I go to the phone app and enter *#0011# nothing happens. I assume you have to hit Send? I know I'm probably missing something basic. Anyone know how to get this to work?

i typed it in just as you had it and it immediately displayed service mode. try again

Where are you entering it, in the phone dialer app? When I'm in the phone app I put in *#0011# and it just sits there. If I hit Send it makes a call and says can't be completed.

Never mind, I saw another post on these forums regarding enabling hidden menus. I had to enable that first, then the code worked in the dialer.
