Default any way to disable 3g and force phone into 4g/lte?

at home, where i primarily use the phone, i recieve a weak 4g signal and the phone constantly switches between 3g and 4g. is there a way to disable 3g completely, and force the phone to stay in 4g mode? i did this on my old evo 4g, and have heard that it was possible on the thunderbolt as well.

    thanks in advance

Sorry to get your hopes up but I doubt it in OEM form. You can block 4g but not 3g.

I was one of the few with the phone before launch and I swear this behavior was increased with the launch updates.

At work I was always on a weak 4g signal. 1mbps speed tested. Now it defaults me to a weaker 3g which I kid you not just tested at .06Mbps... Awesome....

yea when i have the 4g signal, speedtest consistently shows about 7mb down and 2mb up. with the 3g i get 500kb down so i know that signal is weak too. at other locations i have got over 2mb down on 3g.

if the signal at my house is weak for both 3g and 4g, id take the 4g any day

Same thing for me. At work if I have my phone set to 3g/4g auto it will constantly switch back and forth. My 3g speeds in my office are about .5 mbps down while my LTE speeds in the same spot are about 7 mbps down.

outside the building I'd get 1.5 down on 3g and 15 or so down on LTE.

Using the phone info thing on the thunderbolt you had the option to use LTE only mode...which would give me a solid 2-3 bars of LTE coverage. Hopefully this can be worked out on the charge. I fear that this might be an option that's baked into the RIL or baseband software though. Not sure if the devs/hackers can rectify that.
