Hi does anyone know if the DNA is supposed to support simultaneous voice and data while on 3g network I know that it works with 4g my question is if it also works while on a 3g network.
I believe it does. The thunderbolt kicked that off and everything that I am finding says that most of the Android phones that run on LTE with VZW have the capability....now the iPhone 5 does not have that ability....
What I'm trying to figure out is if it works when on the 3g data network not while on the LTE data network
Oh so you are saying that you are going to be 3G only (no LTE into the equation at all)?
Not sure about that one since voice is 3G...
On Verizon voice is carried on 1xRTT, not 3G ( EVDO ). On gsm 3G systems voice can be carried on HSPA, and is usually carried at higher quality as well.Quote:

No it does not work. Talking on the phone and surfing the net does not work over the 3G network. But does work on the 4G network.
Why is it different then the rezound which worked simultaneously on 3g as well and the galaxy s3 also works.is there a reason this phone is different
The DNA does not have a separate radios for CDMA and LTE. The Rezound does have a separate radios for CDMA and LTE, which is why turning off LTE helped the rezound save power. The integrated radios is one of the reasons we are seeing better battery life for the DNA.Quote:

And the galaxy s3 does work simultaneously?

The SGS3 does work with 3G and data, I just tested it out.

while you were on 3g service, not 4g or wifi, you were able to browse internet while on a call? i am almost certain, it does not. i have never heard anyone say it does. i didnt own it long enough to tell.
I haven't heard this either. You have a VERIZON GS3 and used data and voice concurrently?Quote:

I am on Sprint which is cdma, just like vzw.
Yes, I turned off 4g,had to reboot, turned off wifi, made a call to my voice mail, hit the home button and went to espn. Saw how badly the Steelers lost and laughed

Interesting, thanks. This is the very first I have heard of this on CDMA. Maybe I wasn't paying attention, because I swore I read that users could not do this with the GS3 on CDMA. Anyway thanks !Quote:

No sweat.
I am pretty sure I could do it on my Charge as well...

I just tried it myself on the Verizon GS3 and it works. WiFi off, 3G only. Made a call and searched Internet at same time.

It seems that the HTC designers were really bent on making the DNA as thin as possible and made cuts to achieve that profile.Quote:

They left out the sd card slot (with encouragement from VZW), the separate cdma radio, and used a slimmed down battery.
How thin, is thin enough?

Of all the various things that folks have complained about on this phone, the lack of simultaneous voice/data in 3g areas is an absolute deal-breaker for me. I could deal with 11 Gig of usable space and a sealed battery, but what i cannot deal with is working in rural areas of Michigan and not being able to function as well as I can with the Thunderbolt. (Can't believe I just said that.) I find myself talking & searching maps or technical documents all the time. If I couldn't do both simultaneously, I'd be hosed.
