theres an option to change your background in the text app in jellybean. It works no problem on my S3. But on my dna it only allows me to access HTC BACKGROUNDS. i have heard a couple people have had this problem. Others have had success in changing it... But i havent got by it yet.
there is no option to access my gallery. Any ideas?? the stock HTC backgrounds are painfull LOL
like the phone alot have had it about 2 weeks.
i like my S3 just as much they are both great.
Hmm... Not sure. When I click on "Background" in the options, both HTC Background and Gallery come up as options.
I have the gallery option too not sure why you wouldn't be getting the same options as the rest of us. Have you rooted your phone and flashed any mods? Maybe try rebooting.
I only get the HTC Backgrounds option as well. Not rooted. I only have a couple pictures un the gallery but I doubt that matters.
Stock phone. No mods of any kind Tried a reboot. nada. No access to gallery.
Now that you guys bring it up, I too, have the same problem of only seeing HTC wallpapers and NOT gallery. I thought it was just something HTC decided to not let us customize as my girlfriend's DNA is also the same. Hearing how some of you guys can choose from the gallery, I need to fix ours too!
OK, I got the bottom of this already seeing as how I didn't think it was possible if some of you guys were able to do it.
You need to go to the settings in the MAIN SMS page, not individual text messages to set the wallpaper for all texts. The gallery option pops up from there. It also seems that after you set the background through gallery in the "All Messages" page, you will then be able to select gallery through individual text messages, which I wasn't able to see before.
I get the gallery option in the main sms page and in each individual conversations.

I'm not seeing it in either.
Only thing I can think of trying is clearing data and defaults in the application settings. I've looked all over the settings and don't see anything that should effect using the gallery as an option.
I was not able to see the Gallery option before when I went into settings in individual conversations. It was not until after I went into settings in the main "All Messages" page then it somehow unlocked the Gallery option in settings in individual conversations too.
Woah I didn't know that was possible! What all about the bubbles/style can you change (I saw bubble texture, curious what the options are!)?! Really surprised they allow you to change ANYTHING in the messages app considering my Dinc2 lol.
And speaking of SMS, ...has anyone had any lag with the messaging application if you text a lot? I limit my texts to 200 per person and every time I open the messaging app on my Dinc2, I have to wait like 2-3 seconds for it to "update" and realize that I've read new messages and then will switch and bold the name of a person I have new ones from. Really annoying when I just want to quickly answer something! Any of that!?

Mine showed only the HTC option as well until I added pictures to my gallery lol But not sure if it was that or going into it from the main settings screen first.
Doesn't matter what do...reset or whatever elsev I can't access gallery for a background. Weird bug
Can't access gallery option either. Doesn't bother me that much though, I keep it stock. Ill see if I play around with the settings when I get some downtime today.
Somebody needs to figure this out ...lol. I cant seem to. Tried everything I can think of
Ok I figured it out. Open messages , hit the menu button. Hit settings , scroll down and you will see bubble colors and background colors. Click background. When I tried to change the back ground from with in a text message, only the HTC option showed up. Hope this helps. :)

I only have the HTC option too which is lame. I added a bunch of pictures to the phone. Snapped a few with the camera. Tried from the main sms screen. Individual conversations. And gallery is still not possible
Having the same problem, i have a bunch of pictures on my phone just no option to set as my sms background
I'm also having this issue on one of my HTC DROID DNA phones. One of the phones will let me change to a gallery picture and the other one will not. It's quite irritating. Has anyone had any luck resolving this issue?
I just experimented with this in the Verizon store today, and the stock DNA let me choose from the gallery as well as HTC backgrounds. Wasn't expecting that, but hey! lol.
I dropped an shattered my original DNA... The replacement DNA came today. While setting it back to mirror my original DNA, I noticed I was no longer able to set message background images from my gallery. After a few hours of screwing around with it (trying any and all suggestion i could find online), I hooked my replacement DNA up to my PC, copied all the folders from my original DNA and replaced the existing folders... Lo and behold... I was able to add backgrounds from my galleries once again.
Sorry that I am not able to pinpoint the exact folder, but I'm sure that those who are far more computer savvy than myself will be able to figure it out in no time. If noting else, it's a starting point. :)
Ahh, no one has figured this out yet. On my girlfriends DNA she has the option to change SMS backgrounds from HTC or Gallery, on mine only HTC as a choice?
