Using ringtone as a notification tone?

Just got my DNA 3 days ago and Verizon has been no help with this. I use Zedge as my go-to source for ringtones. As such, I have downloaded a ringtone that I want to use as a notification tone (for when I receive a text), not as a ringtone. How in the world can I move the MP3 file for the tone to my notification tones list? Any help is appreciated.

you cant assign a mp3 file with the stock messenger app. you will need to download a sms app from the market/play store to fix this.

I also use Ring Extend to go deeper into customizing this part of the sound settings. With that app you can pull sounds from anywhere on the phone.

I used zedge for my notification sound too. If I remember right I hooked up my phone to the computer and moved it from downloads to notification folder and it worked. Just checked using astro and it's a mp3 format in the notifications folder. So it should work for you too.

All you have do is locate the music file you want to use and move it to your notifications folder.
