Hi all. I am just about to purchase the DNA. I have been reading lots of "expert" reviews on line. Seems like half think it one of the best camera phones out there. The other half think it is marginal at best. I have a Note 2 now but the size has finally gotten to me. Want to go back to a normal size phone. I do love the Note 2 camera. Is the DNA close to it? Any advice appreciated. Thanks!!

Well, I guess it would then depend on YOUR expirenece. You will always have people on opposite ends of the spectrum on this type of question. Have you test driven the camera? go into an AT&T or Verizon or Sprint where they have the phones out on display. take a couple of photos and make a judgement based off what is going to best suit your picture taking needs.

The camera is good for a phone. Sometimes the pictures can have a bit of noise, and the digital zoom is kind of iffy. But it does its job. Here's some shots both indoor, outdoor, zoomed in, with and without flash, and in dim lighting for you to decode.

personally, I would take the Ultrapixel of the HTC one. it take as good if not better pictures, and in low light there is no comparision. the one blows it away hands down, it just depends on how you are going to use your camera.

I find that my phone takes steadier pictures than my husbands note 2. My husband's note 2 has a lot of ghosting when using flash.

I've owned a iPhone 4s, GS3, and the DNA and can say that I enjoyed the picture quality of the 4s better than the latter. Both of the android phones have had a more noise and lackluster zooming as compared to the 4s.

sure....go to an at+t store and try out a DNA camera. NOT! FYI the camera is an 8 out of 10 in my experience. I love my DNA even with the few quirks it has.

I'm sure they didn't mean anything by it. Some people don't know that the DNA is a Verizon exclusive, and sometimes people give advice without owning the device. No need to be snarky.

No snark implied, just a little good natured humor. Sorry for the confusion. But really thats what the "not" was for!!

i am in the same boat as the OP i have a note 2 and the camera is great but the size is getting to me and im a big guy (6'3 300lbs) but i need something easier for one handed use in my job so im between the DNA and the Razr maxx hd because i cant stand samsung build quality. my stint with the razr maxx hd months ago the camera sucked everything else was good though ( build quality, signal, removable storage, battery) so im leaning more towards the dna especially if the camera is better then the dna's only flaw was the lack of removable storage.

The camera is very good, although maybe not up there with an iPhone camera. I have no experience with One or S4 so no info there from me. It's very definitely better than the Razr Maxx and MaxxHD cameras.

I had issues with my DNA camera when trying to take pictures at an indoor concert a couple nights ago. Auto mode was worthless. When I manually adjusted the ISO to 200, it took ok pictures, but nothing to get excited about if I used the zoom at all. However, I didn't buy the phone expecting it to take exceptional pictures. That is what I have a DSLR for. For normal lighting situations it seems to take acceptable pictures on auto.
