Droid DNA root method still valid?

Hello, I have just gotten a warranty replacement for my Droid DNA, and was planning on rooting it until i heard that the bootloader unlock techniques may not be valid anymore. here is what I was looking at.

Can anyone fill me in on this? I want to root it, but messing up and bricking it or messing it up some other way is a big fear of mine. Please Help!!!

If you are on the latest firmware (605.1 710RD), then you'd have to downgrade to use that root method, AFAIK.
