Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
ok,
IF I decide to factory reset it to get this update, is there a way to backup my current config (apps, settings, credentials, icons on screen, everything) like I could with my blackberry?
Thanks! - 09-21-2011, 11:30 AM #54
Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
No, Android does not have a program like BlackBerry's desktop manger. You apps should automatically re-download after the factory reset. You will however have to redo you app screen layouts. You will want to use Google or Verizon's Backup Assistant to backup your contacts.
I've never had to do a factory reset but this is what my wife's phone did when she did a reset to get the market app working again. - 09-21-2011, 01:03 PM #55
Just dl'd this. No problems. So far everything seems the same.
What does the new market look like? How do I know I have it?

Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
I can confirm that a factory reset will allow the update.
On another note. Are people aware that there are no more service people at Verizon stores? I was given a direct tech support number to call - 09-21-2011, 02:37 PM #57

Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
So, I did a factory reset and I went to install the update and when it goes to install, it comes up with the triangle with the ! in it. I am rooted, but I want to update to the newest version. Anyone know a solution?

Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
I'm on the stock rom, with the bloat frozen with titanium and I had a notification bar mod so it showed percentage by the battery indicator.

Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
Ok, so now I am on stock rom. I did a factory reset and everything. There is no battery indicator mod now. The only thing is, is that its rooted.
Now, everytime I go to get the update, it searches for the update but comes back with nothing, anyone have any ideas?Last edited by XCalibration17; 09-21-2011 at 04:20 PM. Reason: add something

Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
OK, you don't need to do the reset to get around the "download failed" (at least I didn't..)
I deleted a couple apps, (amazon store, astro, and seekdroid)
I also went into running processes, cleared cache and stopped anything that looked like an update process, did not re-boot, and tried again, download started, succeeded, and installed! yay
not sure what step did it, but it's done, hope this helps someone!! - 09-22-2011, 07:56 PM #68

Re: Firmware Upgrade 2.3.4 Now Available
have you tried simply rebooting the phone or powering off and doing a battery pull?

My market changed to the new one yesterday. Not sure if I like it. It's a little cluttered.
