When I try to launch the camera all I get is a blank screen and only the 'Home' button works. I've tried soft reset, factory reset, clearing the cache, nothing works. Phone is unmolested but I will if that's what will fix it. I'd rather not take it back to Verizon unless it's my only option. I'm on my 2nd HTC droid in 3 months and our relationship is a little strained right now.

Have you tried another camera app from the market to see if that will work

I've tried zoom FX and Pudding Camera, both gave blank screen. I tried killing WiFi and still no change

and your not rooted so its not the ROM? My guess is its your phone but don't go off of me, its more a guess coming from me

Not rooted. VZW warranty center agreed it's a hardware issue and is overnighting a new one.

New phone showed up Wednesday, put in battery and SD card and works perfectly. Much respect to Verizon for their customer service.

Hey so I had a similar problem with my droid incredible 2, I would try to load it and I would get a flash of a black screen then back to what ever screen I was on. I tried a restarting the camera app as well as the phone, taking out the battery, and finally clearing the data from the camera app. the next day my phone battery was oddly short so I let it die and went without a phone for 4 hours (periodically trying to turn it on) and when I restarted it (after being plugged in) i decided to try the camera again and after a very long black screen. I know that this probably doesnt help but I know that in these cases the more people post about these problems the more it helps others. good luck.
