Processor type?

Looks like it cannot be the Qualcomm S4, as that one runs at 1.5.

I did some looking around, but it looks like it wasnt announced yet so nothing but guesses. I hope they are not actually pricing that thing at 299, it isn't worth that...

well buy the price of 299 on the droid does site ,and that being for the razor,is it possible that the razor is 1.2 dual core? I know i'm reaching here but damn a 1.5 s4 at a 199 price would be right up my sweet spot.

I'm pretty sure it is, but all the other specs were for the Dinc4G. It's underclocked to 1.2ghz for battery life. But it's the S4, meaning even at 1.2ghz it will be faster than a 1.5ghz S3 processor. Multiple sources have claimed it has a 1.2ghz processor.

So we think it's a MSM8960 with Adreno 225 underclocked to 1.2GHz? I would be interested if anyone knows if it's actually the MSM8230 with Adreno 305. Or how they compare at the same clock.

According to Phil, HTC confirmed that it is not underclocked. It is a 1.2 S4.

For those of you who don't understand processor manufacturing it is easy to see this being a 1.2 GHz S4. When processor fabs make the wafers that contain the actual CPUs (or in this case the SOCs - which contain everything) the products are then binned. Binning is the process of making sure each individual processor meets specifications - i.e. it must work through the entire range at its rated specs - e.g. S4 1.5 GHz. If it's not actually defective then they will go ahead and see if it can meet spec at a lower clock (rather than throw it out). That is how they get better yields (and therefore lower prices) out of each wafer. That's not to say they aren't specifically making 1.2 GHz S4s but to increase their overall yield of chips from any specific batch.

Well if HTC isn't underclocking, then the next most reasonable explanation is a 1.2 GHz binned MSM8960. Still hoping for a MSM8230.

Guess we'll have to wait to find out...
