Droid Incredible 4G: Boot Loop Emergency (cannot get fixed or replaced!)
I normally use an iPhone but I temporarily have a Verizon Droid Incredible for international use. I'm not sure if it's new or refurbished, but I've been using it with no problems for about 8 days. It has been on me the whole time so I know it has not gotten wet or had any other physical damage done to it. I also know that when it stopped working it was nowhere near being dead and had half a battery bar when I last checked. I have been keeping it well charged this entire time.
Now, I was holding it in my pocket earlier today, and I took it out to take a photo, but when I went to click on the camera icon, it just powered off for no reason. Ever since then, I can't get it to do anything but go to the boot screen (where it vibrates and says HTC, then it turns off, then it boots again after a few seconds). I am able to get to the reboot/reset screen, but I've clicked on all of the options I think, and they all lead to the same result of the boot loop.
I read that it can help to put the phone in the freezer for 10 minutes, which I did, and it is still doing the same thing.
I also read about the 'sticky power key' thing, but I don't think it's that because when I take out the battery it doesn't automatically boot. It only does when I hold down the power key, but then it just gets into a loop and that's it. [-edit- Never mind, it is doing it automatically when I take the battery out and put it back in. I can't take it apart or anything though, as I don't have a screwdriver and I also don't think it would be a good idea since I don't know what I'm doing and it's a loan phone.]
I've also taken out everything - SIM card, microSD card, etc. It doesn't change anything.
This is really important because I'm in a different country and this is all I have to contact people and to navigate, etc. Also, because it's a loan phone, I'll have to pay over $300 if I don't return it in good condition, and I'm afraid they are going to blame me if it's not working, even though I KNOW I didn't do ANYTHING to break it. How can the phone just become completely useless out of nowhere? I don't get it.
Is there ANYTHING else I can try? Go easy on me because I don't know much about phones, especially these kinds. Thanks.
Re: Boot Loop Emergency (cannot get fixed or replaced!)
Hmm.... Sounds quite interesting.
Has it been charged lately? This normally occurs when the battery is too dry to even boot the phone. My guess is that you probably charged it though...
Is there any way that you know of to externally backup all of the contacts, etc. from the phone? I would suggest this.
As to solvong the problem of being able to use the phone..
I would need more info to anaylze what may have caused the problem.
Try the chargong solution first though.
P.s what country are you in?
