Why would use the backup assistant from verizon if all your contact info is backed up in the cloud at google?

A point of clarification: BackupAssistant doesn't work on Android phones. The reason I posted it is because VZW gives instructions for people going from OTHER phones TO an Android phone. It involves backing up your info to VZW's account, then exporting that in a CSV file and importing it into your Google contacts.
Edit 4/28 7:30pm: According to another user, BackupAssistant is available on the Incredible, but, not having one with me (yet), I can't verify that. Suffice it to say that the original instructions on VZW's website will work, regardless of the fact that there may/may not be a BackupAssistant app for Android.Last edited by Strygun; 04-28-2010 at 07:34 PM. Simple and dumb question: Is Backup Assistant free to use for VZW? I tried the Google Sync function for when I pick my phone up tomorrow and it was having some issues syncing my Storm 1.

I see no need for backup assistant with android as all contacts are stored within your gmail account.

Yes Incredible has backup assistant on it. Downloaded old contacts earlier.
Android is all about Personal Choice: Droid RAZR HD, Droid DNA, SGSIII, SG Note 2, HTC One X+, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus4... Hating is so Apple... we're better than that!

Backup Assistant DOES work on the incredible - it is easy to set up and syncs well.
The problem is now I cant get it off the phone.
Settings - Accounts & sync - Backup Assistant
will take you to the BA settings but there is no option to uninstall.
I tried removing all the BA entries in my phone, but still couldn't remove.
Any ideas?

I haven't activated it, but if it's like any of the other accounts you should be able to go to settings > accounts and sync > backup assistant and click remove account.

im trying to figure out how to stop it. i hope some one figures it out.

it doesn't let you remove backup assistant. the only way i could do it is to do a factory reset, and then when i set it up again, i skip backup assistant. now when i go to PEOPLE, menu, VIEW, Phone now shows 0 and all my contacts are under google, which is what i want. and now when i go to PHONE, i only see 1 copy of all my contacts while i am searching. now if i could only get rid of facebook contacts in the PHONE view.

I found Backup Assistant under Applications where you normally go to uninstall apps, and hit force stop, dont know if thatll do anything. I also changed BA to update late at night between 12am and 6am. 99% of the time my phone will be charging during those hours so I dont have to worry about it draining the battery for no reason.
